Brunch and a Book Activity
Children ages 6-11 will come together every Tuesday and Thursday between the hours of 11am and 2pm. We encourage everyone to arrive 15 minutes early. Parent participation is welcomed but not required. The book reading starts promptly at 11am and ends at 12pm. There will be a 30-minute period for questions and reflections. Then there will be a 30-minute recess. Brunch will be served at 1:00pm. The program ends promptly at 2pm. While the children are listening to the reading, and during the questions and reflections period of the program, photos will be taken for the purpose of collecting content for the creation of their own book. We will have a cartoonist draw each child into a character which will represent them in the book. The book will be based on their experiences within the program. The children will get a surprise when they realize that the last book of the program is about them. They each will receive one free copy of the book with the option to purchase more.

To make strong bonds and friendships with their peers through an interactive approach of storytelling.
To teach them that it's ok to ask questions about things that may not have been clear to them.
To teach them to voice their opinions on how they feel about the book.
To teach them to respect the opinion of others when it doesn’t align with their own.

Lunch and Learn Activity
Children ages 12 – 16 come together every Monday and Wednesday between 10am – 2pm.
We recommend arriving 15-minutes early. Parent participation is encouraged, but not required. The first learning activity starts promptly at 10am and will end at 11:30am. We will take time to reflect from 11:30am – 12pm. We will have literacy games from 12pm until 1:00pm. Lunch will be served at 1:15pm. The program ends at 2pm.
Activity and Game Examples ---
Science: Baking Soda Balloon Experiment, Dancing Corn, Magic Milk, Rainbow in a Jar, Lava Lamp Experiment, Density/Buoyancy, Mechanics of Material/Structural Engineering (example: NewsPaper Bridge), Sound Experiment, and Surface Tension. Color Explosion in Milk.
