Police and Community Mixer

There is a negative cloud lingering over both the Police and the community. It is imperative that we create a positive relationship that works for all. Once in July and once in August, we will host either a kickball, softball, or volleyball game. There will also be games like horseshoes, corn hole, checkers, and chess to accommodate others. The teams will consist of a random mix of Police officers and members of the communities they serve. Everyone will be given name tags, and have to pick a color to represent their team. They will be given a list of general questions to ask of each other to help them get acquainted. After the games, everyone will sit down to a good old-fashioned barbecue and reflect on their experience.

GOALS

E

To have fun, share a meal, and build relationships.

E

Bridge the gap between communicating and understanding one another.

E

To allow the community and the police to show compassion, empathy, respect and appreciation towards one another.
